This is where individual chords start to feel like music. Chord progressions are the next step in ear training and the key to understanding how music actually moves. In this program, you’ll learn to hear how chords relate to one another and how those relationships create direction, tension, and resolution. Instead of listening to isolated sounds, you’ll begin recognizing common progressions that appear constantly in real music — across classical, pop, film, and contemporary styles. You’ll work with simple, functional progressions and gradually develop the ability to identify them by ear, understand their role in a key, and anticipate where the music is going next. This skill is essential for reading music, learning songs faster, improvising, composing, and playing with confidence. This course pairs naturally with Ear Training: Intervals and Ear Training: Chords, helping you connect interval and chord recognition into a complete listening skill set. Everything is presented clearly and practically, with repetition built in so your ear develops naturally over time. By the end of this program, chord progressions will no longer sound random — they’ll sound familiar, logical, and musical.
